OUR HISTORY

If you are reading this, you have been selected to help make suggestions for our camp history page. Our goal is to list notable moments in the camps history such as past directors, major building projects, events and history. We have a very small list started. If you have any suggestions please fill our the form below as many times as your want by refreshing the page after submitting a suggestion. With the boards approval we will add suggestions to this page to be complete and published by End of February 2025. Thank you for you help with this project!

Our History


1944

In Camp was started near the seventeen Mile Bridge 17 miles north east of Swift Current at the Apostolic Church camp.


1945

In 1945, the camp was re-located 20 miles north along the Swift Current creek at the Stewart Valley Bridge. A number of cabins were built on rented land.


1946

A committee started looking for a better and more permanent site. Rev J.J. Thiessen of Herbert, and Rev. John Siemens of Main Centre came to look at places on Eugene Martens Ranch, one and a half miles south of the Seventeen Mile Bridge. They found a good location, and moved in 1946 with three cabins.

1995

New Dining hall and kitchen was built thanks to the generous support of donors.


2002

Jerry Dennill is hired as the Executive Director. Jerry and his wife Liz would go on to serve in the ministry for 15 summers until 2017 and bring many updates to buildings, infrastructure and camp culture as a whole.


2009

A new office building is moved onsite donated from Beaver Flat SK.


2016

West Bank Bible Camp reached our greatest attendants of over 650 camps


2018

Jeff Penner is hired as the Executive Director. Jeff and his wife Mandy would go on to serve in the ministry for 5 summers.


2020-2021

Day camps are run due to the pandemic for 2 summers.


2022

Kurt Robertson is hired as the Executive Director. Kurt and his wife Anna have both been serving at WBBC in difference roles since 2012.


2023

Through a financial partnership with a Christian Charity the camp was able to invest in capital projects updating and fixing various projects around the camp. One of the most notable projects invested in was the new outdoor sports court.


2024

We celebrated 80 year of ministry at WBBC.

In the fall of 2024, Aaron Rampold is hired as the Assistant Director. Aaron has been serving at WBBC in various roles since 2015. As the Assistant Director, Aaron oversees the following areas of camp: Staff/DIT Mentorship, DIT Program, Rentals & Tuck Shop Merch/Candy.
